EXPERTISE
Françoise Carlier is a founding partner of Newton and head of the Intellectual Property and Information and Technology Communication Section.
After her apprenticeship at the Brussels Bar, Françoise Carlier served as in-house legal counsel from 1994 in the creative industry, before returning to the Bar in 2016. She has 28 years’ experience with all legal aspects of intellectual property in general, copyright and trademarks in particular. Amongst others, she acted as Head of Legal for Studio 100 for 11 years, helped manage intellectual property and compliance within the group and provided support for its international expansion. This enabled her to check Belgian good practices alongside working methods in the international entertainment and audio-visual industry.
Françoise is active within the audio-visual, live entertainment, design, fashion and music industries where she helps both small and medium sized companies, authors and artists alike with the drafting and negotiation of contracts and various other legal topics involved with creative and artistic ventures, including their derivatives.
Françoise regularly teaches in her areas of expertise to non-legal audiences and constantly strives to share complex legal concepts in clear language.

Françoise is passionate about her family, including 4 kids and 2 cats. She keeps in shape with Pilates work-outs and loves a good romantic read.
